Government Securities

Government Securities are debt securities issued by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. Government Securities are the most realizable and reliable financial instruments.

You can buy Government Securities:
  • on the primary market, when they are distributed by the Bank of Lithuania in accordance with a certain schedule. Danske Bank A/S Lithuania Branch will charge a commission for brokerage services.
  • on the secondary market, when you can also buy or sell the already issued Government Securities (denominated in LTL, USD, EUR) on a daily basis. In this case the prices will be set by Danske Bank A/S Lithuania Branch. The Bank will charge no commission.
Saving Notes

The Government of the Republic of Lithuania issues debt securities in order to finance the State budget. Saving Notes is a type of Government Securities, which is designed for individual investors.

Saving Notes are the Government Securities most easily accessible to the individuals, interest for which is usually larger than for bank deposits. This type of Government Securities is convenient for individuals because they can be bought directly without mediation and commission.

Saving Notes are especially suitable for investors who wish to invest small sums (minimum investments amount to LTL 100 only), and they can also be redeemed before time at the request of the investor. Saving Notes can be sold before their final redemption term without loosing any interest gained. The State guarantees repurchase of Saving Notes by its property.

Investments into Saving Notes are very simple and fast. An investor should apply to any branch of the Bank where the Bank personnel will open a Bank account for the investor and conclude a Purchasing Agreement. The investor will be able to acquire Saving Notes upon paying or transferring money to the Bank account opened in his name.

The investor will not be charged any commission.

Stocks

Stocks are property securities, which will make you co-owner of the issuing company. The ratio of the stocks owned by property right and the total number of shares issued by the company will show which part of the company belongs to you.

Income on stocks consists of the increase in the share price and dividends. Both the stock price and dividends depend on the success of the company business.

A meeting of company shareholders decides whether to pay or not to pay dividends.

Trading in NASDAQ OMX Vilnius exchange take place from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on each working day.

Only public companies are listed on NASDAQ OMX Vilnius exchange.

Corporate Bonds

Corporate Bonds are securities (mostly terminable) issued in series, which provides its owner with an income in the form of interests during the validity term of the debenture, and grants other creditor rights specified in Corporate Bonds. Owners of Corporate Bonds can gain higher interests than owners of Government Securities. Corporate Bonds can be bought and/or sold on each working day. The prices are set by Danske Bank A/S Lithuania Branch.
