Secure online payments

To ensure the security of your online payments, we have implemented an international security tool which helps to protect you from unauthorised use of your cards. Before accepting payment for goods or services, the e-shops marked with the MasterCard® SecureCode™ or Verified by Visa sign will require you to enter a card secure code which is known to you only.

Why is it useful?

On entry of the secure code, the bank checks your identity in a few seconds and, having verified that you are the holder of the card, confirms your purchase. In the case of entry of an incorrect secure code, the payment will not be confirmed and money will not be withdrawn from your account.

The additional security tool ensures that only you can use your payment card to make payments.

How will the online payment process change?

  • You select goods or services in the desired e-shop and, just as before, enter your payment card data needed for payment;
  • the system will redirect you to the secure online payment window of Danske Bankas;
  • make sure that all the information entered to make the purchase is accurate and enter the card secure code which is known to you only;
  • If the secure code entered is correct, your purchase will be confirmed.
  • Purchases in shops which have not implemented the international secure online payment tool can be made according to the standard procedure.
  • Each payment card you use, must be provided with a separate secure code.

How do you join the secure online payment programme?

  • All private Danske Bankas clients who hold credit or debit cards join the secure payment programme automatically.
  • You should have already received your initial secure code provided to you by the bank.
  • Have you forgotten your initial secure code? Please log on to Danske eBank to retrieve it. You can also revert to the initial code set by the bank if you have forgotten the code that you created. Select the menu item "Cards" -> "Card Secure Code Reset" on Danske eBank and follow the instructions. You can also find out or restore your secure code by calling us on 1636 or visiting any customer service branch.
Keep your secure code safe and do not disclose it to anyone. If you suspect that other persons have become aware of the code, restore your initial code via Danske eBank by calling us on 1636 or visiting the nearest customer service branch.
