When using cheques is convenient?
- The cost of acquiring a cheque is lower than an international transfer charge, therefore, this is a very convenient means of payment for goods/services when amounts are not large (e.g. subscription to periodicals, visa issuance charge, conference participant fee etc. and there is a need to transfer money to an individual/entity abroad.
- If you don't know bank particulars of the recipient, you may make out a cheque as specifying of the recipient's name and address is sufficient.
What cheque operations are performed by Danske Bankas?
- Makes out cheques for payments in euro, US dollars and pounds sterling.
- Cashes cheques by other banks with the value expressed in convertible currency.
- Accepts unused cheques to the bank account. Unused cheques may be returned to any customer service branch. The cheque amount will be returned to your account upon deduction of the repayment charge.
If you want to pay by bank cheque
If you wish to get a bank cheque issued but don't have account with Danske Bankas, a bank account will be opened for you free of charge, to which you will pay funds necessary for the making out of the cheque.
