Direct Debit

Direct debit is a convenient method of payment for public utilities, cable television, telecommunications, insurance, leasing, and other services. Following signature of a direct debit agreement, the bills you receive will be paid automatically. Based on the relevant service provider's instruction, the bank will transfer the required amount from your account to the service provider's account.

Why is it useful?

Advantages of the direct debit service:

  • You save money: the direct debit service is free. Your monthly payments will not be subject to any commission fees.
  • Your bills will be paid on time: the required amount will be automatically transferred to the relevant service provider from the bank account that you indicate.
  • The payments made will be reflected on your bank account statements.
  • Convenience: all you not need to do is sign a direct debit consent form at the bank or at the service provider's office and you will no longer need to think about payment of your bills or waste time making payment transfers. You may stop using the direct debit service at any time.
Why is it safe?

The direct debit service is safe because:

  • The bank will transfer payments to relevant companies only following receipt of your consent. You may amend or cancel the provisions of the consent conditions at the venue where the consent was finalised. Payments are transferred to the relevant companies:
    • on the same business day, if the relevant direct debit instruction is submitted by 11:00 a.m.;
    • on the following business day, if the relevant direct debit instruction is submitted after 11:00 a.m.
  • Money is transferred only from your personal bank account or payment card account at Danske Bankas and only if the debit transfer amount does not exceed the limit that you specified in your consent. Direct debit operations are not performed from joint accounts (accounts owned by co-owners) or from accounts opened for the benefit of third parties.
  • If there is insufficient money in your account, the bank will not perform the required debit payment and will inform the relevant company of this.
How do you set up the direct debit service?

You may apply for the direct debit service:

If you would like to sign the consent at Danske Bankas or at the company providing the service of your interest, you will have to present your ID document.
